Handmade

I have crafted and designed numerous ornaments and gifts in various materials. I tend to hand draw my ideas, transfer to computer if necessary and then create objects and refine until I’m happy with the final product. I can undertake commissions/projects where handcrafting is preferred, please get in touch.

Golden Cod House Plaque

Golden Cods are carved into the history and lore of the town of Marblehead, Massachusetts. They adorn numerous houses in the area, fashioned from bass wood, and painted with gold-leaf. I created my own ornament after being lucky enough to visit and live there for a time. I also created a miniature of the same item.

Baseball Plinth

Created as a gift, made from bass wood, I carved the initials of my father-in-law into the wood and spray painted in the colours of the Detroit Lions baseball team.

‘Duckshund’ Gold-Leaf Ornament

Created as a gift, made from bass wood, I carved the shape of the duck to match the rubber ducks commonly found in shops and shaped the head in the style of the dachshund dog. I added the dog tag underneath to maintain a connection to the pet.

Teddies’ Clothing

Created using sheets of coloured cotton twill, edged and the chain stitched initials for each dog.

Dachshund Wooden Ornament

Created as a gift for a dachshund lover, made from bass wood, I drew the outlines of my own dog, transferred to paper and carved the wood. The head looked wrong, so I cut and rotated to make more natural. Placed onto slanted plinth as he loves to climb. Copper-leaf finishing with rustic and handmade finish.

Wooden Birdhouse

Created using spare pieces of wood and shingle, I made the bird box for a neighbour.

Alleyway Stand

I created an alleyway stand to stop our dog from escaping the garden. It was made from old wood and spare siding to match the house.

Workshop

The garden shed/workshop was in a slightly sorry state, held together with rotten wood and corrugated metal. I refurbished the whole shed with new siding to match the house in Michigan and also relocated the door. It was a big job, but well worth it.

Slate Etching

The etched slate was created as a wedding memento featuring a drawing of the church I was married at.
